Connect zn-gate to your zn account
This step is optional: zn-gate keeps working on your machine without an account, and nothing is sent by default. Connecting adds the Galvanize 2 cloud check on top of the local rules, plus a dashboard with your usage and the cloud check's decisions. When it is on, only prompt text is sent to our cloud, with the secrets zn-gate detects removed (personal data is not removed), as explained in what leaves your machine.

Create a free account or log in
The Free plan is enough to start.
Create an analysis-only API key
You land on the API keys page after you sign in (a new account may ask you to confirm your email first). Create a key and copy it. When you arrive from zn-gate connect, the key you create here can only analyze text (it cannot read your usage or manage other keys), which is the only kind zn-gate connect accepts.
Paste it in the terminal
Go back to the terminal where zn-gate connect is waiting and paste the key at the hidden prompt (nothing you type is shown). To stop later, run zn-gate disconnect: it can also revoke the key on usezn.com.
